How do the BBC decide what dramas to show on each channel?

BBC ONE- They try to aim for a perverse selection of shows and dramas for everyone on abc one. They choose dramas that have multiple parts to it. The audience that is most likely to watch BBC one is older people. But they are showing other shows to reach a younger audience. Mid week shows are critical and serous that goes to a loyal audience. Saturday night is prime time TV where they show Doctor who and other shows that go towards family and a younger audience with a hint for the older audience. They want to show edgier things to go for a younger audience. They like to challenge people and themselves.

BBC TWO- This is a mainstream channel. The audiences are older because they have edgy angled perspective of the world. they want to appeal to the older audience who are smarter as it is an older demographic.

BBC THREE- Its online. This make it more specified to people who are teens because they tend to be online more then the older generation. BBC ONE  and TWO you can watch live and on catch up (so online). Comedy is shown and most shows are aimed at college uni students.

NETFLIX- This is aimed at teens, adults, children and families. You can set a thing where children can only watch things that are rated bellow their age. You cannot view it in china but it is global. In 2007 they showed it in the US and 2010 they did it nationally. You can download the app or watch it online but not on the tv. Its always available which means people will bindge watch it because its always there. There are no adverts because people pay for it. Its a payed subscription so adults are the ones that can afford it. Unemployed or people that have a lot of time. There is a lot of long form TV drama and lots of comedy. The US make most of the programs on it.

TV watchers- The overall number of people watching things on TV has gone down quite a lot. Although people 65+ have been watching tv more. They used to watch it 49 hours a week now they watch it nearly 52 hours a week. Younger people 12-17 have gone down this could be because they watch things online instead and go on things like Netflix and youtube.
